It is a matter of great comfort, while you will visit Machranga Dweep or Kingfisher Island. Machranga Dweep is a small isle/islet on the Ichamati River near to both Taki and Hasanabad towns in North 24 Parganas of West Bengal. From Machranga Dweep, Taki is easily accessible by boat.
Machranga Dweep has Bangladesh on one side and India on the other. This desolate island is covered with tress. But you don’t have any access in this island, because, this island is fully controlled by Border Security Force.
Machranga Dweep is a regular picnic spot for weekenders from Kolkata and other adjacent areas of West Bengal. The USP of this island is the isolation. During winter season, Machranga Dweep serves a popular picnic spot in North 24 Parganas District of West Bengal.
You can reach Machranga Dweep by transit of local boat or the vessels monitored by the Hasnabad Municipal Corporation. Machhranga Dweep is located near the confluence of the Ichhamati and Vasa.
Machranga Dweep spread over 129 acres of land and it is an isolated one. From there you can see Taki, which is in the main land. It is advisable to travel to Machranga Dweep in evening, will present you cool breeze and sunset in the dusk, while the dawn in Machranga Dweep is awesome.
Machranga Dweep is mostly uninhabited. It will take around 30 minutes to reach the island by a mechanised boat or vessel. The island was thus ideal for a picnic and the Hasnabad Panchayat Samity maintained a number of picnic spots and a two-storeyed bungalow on the Machranga Dweep.
Hasanabad is 75 km from Sealdah and the train is connected by Barasat. It is part of the Kolkata Suburban Railway. There is a privately operated express bus from Esplanade to Hasnabad, travelling via Belgachia, Patipukur, Jessore Road, Nager Bazar, Barasat, Kadambagachi, Golabari, Beleghata, Berachampa, Kholapota, and Basirhat.
From Hasanabad Railway Station, reach Hasanabad Ferry Ghat. It is a walking distance. From which you can hire a boat to rich the spot. Entry fee for Machhranga Deep is Rs 5 per head. The ferry service is available from Jetty Ghat.
